Donor Type 9:

How to Lead The Cheerful Donor

Type Nine personalities, also called The Cheerful Donor Type, are receptive folks. They are the ones who listen to your sermons with open hearts, and having them in your congregation, supporting your non-profit is reassuring. However, this type can be complacent and resigned.

If there is a mission project or cause that benefits their social circle, they are likely to get on board. This is because they genuinely want to help others live more peacefully and in greater abundance. Pastors should try to help the Cheerful Donor Type to see this bigger picture when asking for donations. When the fundraising campaign is presented in this way, you can be sure that the Type Nine cheerful donor will be fully supportive.

Using the right emotional and social skills that are most effective at influencing the Cheerful Donor, you will soon understand why they choose to give or to hold back. The same goes for all the other eight personality types. You must seek to recognize certain character traits and adapt your fundraising style accordingly. When your communication with the Cheerful Donor Type is based on strong respect and trust, they become one of your greatest givers.

How Can You Engage the Cheerful Donor?

To engage the cheerful donor during church services and Bible studies, encourage them to find the balance between giving and receiving. Because they are such generous givers, they sometimes give to their own hurt.

Type Nine Cheerful Donors often accommodate others and end up forgoing their own desires. However, with time this may make them unhappy. Teach them that they can still pursue their passions and serve the world simultaneously. It doesn’t have to be just “one or the other.”

Teach them to strive for a balanced life, to find happiness even when things are unstable. Train them to also seek out strong connections in their social circles—those who can help them stay grounded spiritually.
