COURSE 6

Nurture Your Tribe

Film Script #14

Follow Up

Someone has done something, so naturally this is a continuation of whatever action that individual has started/done. Easily the biggest opportunity to nurture the relationship with the individual (donor, volunteer, member, follower, fan, etc) and start it on the right foot.

  • What action did they take? Show appreciation! Especially if it is an action that you asked them to take.
    • What sort of response would they be expecting from you?
    • Do you want them to repeat that action or is there another next-step you’d like them to know about?
  • Thank
  • Nurture, Nurture, Nurture
  • Ask
  • At every step of your campaign, there must be follow up.

FOLLOW UP COMMUNICATION FUNNEL PLAN OVERVIEW EXAMPLE AND IDEAS

Each week, we suggest that you put cards and envelopes under chairs or pews in your sanctuary. For that matter, you can put them EVERYWHERE in your church.

On Monday, the follow up begins.

Send emails to people who filled out those cards. Your goal is to get them to take the plunge and sign up to give. Explain step-by-step EXACTLY what they need to do. Include the link to the website and show them which buttons they need to click from there.

You can also utilize letters in the mail, blogs, and handwritten notes that will reinforce what happens on stage on Sunday mornings.

The goal is to continually spark inspiration.

Follow ups should continue after the campaign, too.

Celebrate what happened—we’ll talk about that next section—and thank people who gave.

In the end, kindness is the right thing to show to anyone, whether they switched to digital giving or not. You never know what people will do in the future.
