What is the Future of Church Technology?
The future of church technology is now. If you are wondering what tomorrow holds for your church and congregation, you just have to look around you and see what is happening. - The first television evangelists started with the idea that if they could use TV to reach more people, it would be much more efficient—and they were right.
A little more recently, we have the example of the Vatican, who, during a three-day conference, met with Silicon Valley representatives, Nobel Laureates, and digital tech experts to discuss the latest in technology. Specifically, artificial intelligence.
Other attendees to this meeting included heavyweights from Facebook, Mozilla, Catholic ethicists, and investors. At the core of the meeting was the desire to see AI developed in an ethical way, to create a platform for these creators to discuss how technology could be used for good.
The Church Facing a Pandemic
Since the onset of the pandemic, churches across the globe have had to embrace technology. Live-streaming services, tithing apps, online sermons and podcasts…these were all in use before Covid 19, but now they are essential for the very survival of the church.
The good news is that God has given us technology and science so that we can use it for His Glory. We don’t have to understand all the ways it works—but we do have to acknowledge that without it, we will suffer. Our churches will suffer. Our members and donors will feel isolated and cut off from the greater church, unless we use innovate ways to communicate and manage them.
In Romans 1: 12, the apostle Paul encourages the church:
“I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong—that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith.”
