Giving Tuesday and What It Means for Your Church
Giving Tuesday is coming very soon! We don’t want you or your donors to miss out on this very special event. Below you will learn about Giving Tuesday, why it is celebrated by many, and how this simple idea can create big, positive change for your church members and community.
“Giving Tuesday” was created some years ago, in 2012. It’s a simple idea: one day out of the busy holiday season to remind people to do something good for others. After the excitement of Thanksgiving, while gratitude is still fresh on their hearts, lips and minds, it’s a way to translate those grateful hearts into gifts of generosity.
What started out as a small idea is now a global movement, where hundreds and thousands have the chance, each year, to give and collaborate. The gifts can be any size or form. It can be as simple as lending a helping hand, joining efforts for an outreach project, or giving a collective fund towards a greater goal.
This is an opportunity for your church to show how anyone can give, and anyone can help bless and inspire others to do the same.
To date, Giving Tuesday is celebrated in over 60 countries around the globe, and in many languages!
Has your church joined in a Giving Tuesday campaign?
If not, we at DonorWerx have planned a special, tailor-made package for you to use. It is even more vital today, as we experience a collective disconnection in the middle of a worldwide pandemic.
When your church members need to feel the encouragement of doing something for the greater good; when they need a light in their darkness, and a hope for better days ahead. This is where your church can shine. What you do in these last few weeks of 2020 determines how you will thrive in the coming new year.
This year, #GIVINGTUESDAY falls on December 1st, the Tuesday right after Thanksgiving. This is the perfect time to remind your church members and followers to focus on giving or supporting your outreach fund.

Bible Verses on Giving to Inspire your Giving Tuesday Campaign
1 Chronicles 29:14
But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand.
Luke 6:38
Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
Philippians 4:19
And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus.

Below are some Bible chapters you can turn to for reminders and inspiration:
- The foundation of tithing and how Abraham inspired his family and friends to donate a “tenth of everything.” (Genesis 14-18-20)
- The story of Ruth, and how she gave her entire life to God’s will and service when following her mother-in-law, Naomi (Ruth 1)
- The poor widow and her gift of two mites, more generous than all the other offerings. (Mark 12:41-44)
Remember: Christmas was God’s greatest gift of all—when He sent his only begotten son to us. As we lead your fellowship and church into a very different Christmas season this year, we come from a place of gratitude and generosity. If you can kick off the first day of December in this spirit of giving, the end of your 2020 will look much brighter already.
